Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Tuesday announced that vulnerable families across the country will each receive a new grant of S/760 (around US$223), which will be paid between August and October this year.
"The gradual process of economic reopening requires us to make an effort to benefit those households, which is why today I announce the approval of a second grant
worth S/760 (about US$223) for those 8.5 million families," he expressed.
According to the Head of State, S/6.4 billion (around US$1.8 billion) will be allocated for this purpose.
"The pandemic reminds us of the urgent need to improve our social services (...) We have taken major steps forward. However, we still face many challenges," he said.
The Peruvian leader affirmed that —to date— the Government has invested more than S/5 billion (around US$1.4 billion) in the first grant, which has benefited over six million families.
Mr. Vizcarra indicated that the above-mentioned families make up 90% of those listed in the general registry of beneficiaries.
He went on to add that the invested amount was used to grant the I Stay Home Bonus (2.7 million beneficiaries), the Independent Bonus (700,000), the Rural Bonus (980,000) and the Universal Family Bonus (1.6 million).
