14:03 | Lima, Jun. 26.

The Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (Midis) has announced that more than 2 million additional households will receive the S/760 (US$223) grant and thus benefit a total of 7.5 million vulnerable families during the COVID-19 pandemic.

5.3 million households benefited so far

Around 5.3 million households have collected the Urban (I Stay Home), Rural, Independent, and Universal Family S/760 (US$223) grant provided by the State to economically protect those most in need during this health crisis.

The Urban Bonus (I Stay Home) —aimed at 2.7 million households in a situation of poverty or extreme poverty— has been received by more than 2.5 million households.

The first installment of this subsidy (S/380 or about US$111.5) was paid since March 23 and the payment process has reached 95.9% completion, while the second (S/380 or about US$111.5) since early May and has reached 93.1% completion.

The Independent Bonus —administered by the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion (MTPE)— is aimed at over 773,000 households with independent workers, and the process has reached 88% completion.

This subsidy was also divided in two installments of S/380 (about US$111.5) each. The first one was paid since April 8 and the second one 20 days later.

Likewise, the Rural Bonus —which is intended to benefit 980,138 rural households in situation of poverty or extreme poverty— has been paid since May 13 and the process has reached 69.5% completion.

Finally, there is the Universal Family Bonus, whose first installment has been paid since May 20.

In rural areas, this grant (administered by Midis) is aimed at 258,151 households and its payment process has reached 81.8% completion.

In urban areas, the grant is administered by MTPE and 78% of the 594,000 beneficiary households have already collected it.

On the other hand, another Universal Family Bonus —aimed at 743,702 households with beneficiaries of Juntos, Pension 65, and Contigo programs— is being paid since June 1 and 94.8% of these families have already received such financial subsidy.

In general, the Universal Family Bonus has been received by 1.4 million households and the payment process has reached 84.8% completion.
