Peru's President: Nothing will defeat us, we will prevail

The President of the Republic Martin Vizcarra on Tuesday assured that nothing will defeat Peruvians, adding that his fellow citizens will prevail as a society in the end.

Within this framework, the Head of State said he is aware that the nation is going through one of the most difficult crises in history due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, many compatriots suffer and have their lost their loved ones or jobs.

"Today, I only have words of recognition and encouragement for you. Today, July 28, 2020, I declare that nothing will defeat us, that we will prevail in the end; and when posterity reaches, in better days, remember this moment in history; we will never say we gave up; instead, we sow the seeds for a better Peru," he expressed.

Likewise, the top official affirmed that the strength, determination, and courage of Peruvians will allow them to overcome these difficult situations.

"I am certain that we will succeed if we stand united. I am sure that if we prioritize what unites us, if we put aside the fight and move forward together, then we will succeed (…)," he stated.

"In this, my last National Independence Day Anniversary commemoration (as President), I want you to know that I will continue making the utmost efforts so we can move forward. I also invite you to join efforts towards this goal, that of building together the Peru we all deserve," he added.
