The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Thursday conveyed fraternal greetings to all teachers nationwide —within the framework of Teacher's Day which is celebrated today, July 6.

"On this special day, I pay tribute to all female and male teachers of Peru and, therefore, to one of the most noble, demanding, and important professions in our society," Mrs. Boluarte said in a statement.

In the communique posted on Twitter, the Head of State affirmed that the Executive Branch's commitment to teachers is firm and unwavering since the Government has set the goal of revaluing the teaching career.

"Gone are the times when the granting of resources to (the) education (sector) was considered an expense. There is no more productive investment than investment in education," she pointed out.

The top official reminded teachers that the education sector's budget this year has been increased, which enables teachers' salary floor to be increased and the Peruvian State to continue settling the social debt "as an act of social justice towards female and male teachers from all over the country."

"Today, the work of a teacher is not only to transmit knowledge, it is to train, use technology, learn languages, but —above all— it is to train good female and male citizens because education is the basis for building a more just and equitable country, a country at peace, with tolerance, with dialogue, a country of solidarity, developed, and with hope," she expressed.

The Head of State concluded her message by calling on teachers across Peru to become the true builders of the future.
