Peru: President leads International Specialty Coffee Fair (Ficafe) launch

The President of the Republic, Jose Maria Balcazar, participated in the launch ceremony of the International Specialty Coffee Fair (Ficafe Cusco 2026), reaffirming the Government's commitment to strengthening Peru's coffee sector and promoting one of the country's leading export products.

The event will take place in the city of Cusco from November 2 to 6.

It will bring together producers and buyers at a trade fair designed to expand new markets for Peruvian coffee.

The program will feature business matchmaking sessions, quality competitions, and exhibition spaces that will showcase the work of thousands of coffee-growing families in the southeastern region.

During the ceremony held at the Government Palace, the Head of State highlighted Peruvian coffee as a flagship product, the Presidential Office reported on X.

The top official also underscored the importance of promoting its consumption, marketing, and exports to new markets.

According to the Cusco Region Government, Ficafe Cusco 2026 will boost the regional economy by attracting international buyers, investors, businesspeople, tourists, and domestic visitors.

Their presence is expected to generate economic activity for hotels, restaurants, transportation, retail, and various tourism-related services. 

The official launch of Ficafe Cusco 2026 was attended by national authorities, representatives of international organizations, coffee industry leaders, producers, and sector organizations.

Their participation strengthens a strategic alliance to further position Peru as a global leader in specialty coffee.


Virgen del Carmen

Earlier in the day, President Balcazar took part in the main celebration of the Virgen del Carmen.

The Head of State was accompanied by Cabinet Chief Luis Arroyo and Economy and Finance Minister Rodolfo Acuña.

The Executive Branch officials paid tribute to the sacred image in front of the Government Palace as it passed by during its procession through the streets of the capital's Historic Center.
