The President of the Republic, Jose Jeri, on Wednesday announced the transfer worth S/3 million (US$889,152) for the operation of the university in Coracora district, Ayacucho region, a project long awaited by the local population.

During a working visit to the area, the top official recalled that the launch of this university was a commitment he had made during his tenure at the Congress of the Republic.

"Once the land regularization is completed, we have instructed the Ministry of Education to transfer the first S/3 million so that the organizing committee can be established and the university's implementation can begin," he indicated.

The Head of State underlined that education is key to development.

Likewise, he stated that this decision represents the first step toward making the Coracora University a reality, thus benefiting Parinacochas province's youth.

Furthermore, the President said he gathered the population's main demands, related to educational infrastructure, roads, and water-sanitation services, during his tour.

These needs will be addressed in coordination with regional and local governments.

Earlier, the Head of State visited Industrial Educational Institution No. 12 Cristo Rey. He spoke with students in technical and vocational training at the site.

He also inspected the Coracora Support Hospital.
