The President of the Republic, Jose Jeri, on Thursday delivered the sanitary certification protocol to the modern Chancay Artisanal Fishing Dock (DPA), enabling it to carry out its activities in accordance with current regulations within a renewed environment.

"It is important to give a new boost to the artisanal fishing docks (DPAs) in the country. This renewed infrastructure is an example that when the public and private sectors work together, great things can be achieved," Jeri expressed during the ceremony.

The investment in this project amounts to more than S/19.3 million (US$5.71 million), aimed at the comprehensive improvement of the DPA.

This initiative will strengthen artisanal fishing activities, directly benefiting 1,772 local residents, who now have access to renewed infrastructure suitable for fishing operations and complementary processes.

During his visit, the Head of State verified that the DPA has modern, functional infrastructure, including an administrative area, a cold storage zone with two preservation chambers, and spaces for direct dispatch and marketing.

The facility features a general yard equipped with washing and tire-disinfection areas, parking for refrigerated trucks, and access to supply zones.

It also includes a jetty pier, a low platform, a defense system, and a pier head cover, elements that enable safe, efficient, and hygienic fishing operations.

During the event, President Jeri delivered symbolic checks exceeding S/300,000 (over US$88,757), aimed at improving the productive capacities of local fishermen.

Additionally, he presented awards to workers with decades of service in the area.

"There is a State commitment to continue working for all Peruvians. It is a commitment that every government must uphold after our administration. Chancay has many capabilities and opportunities to become a driving force of the economy," he pointed out.

The event was attended by Production Minister Cesar Quispe, Chancay District Mayor Juan Alvarez, and Aucallama District Mayor Edwin Valdivia.

The Head of State arrived in Chancay, where he began his activities with the National Flag raising, as part of government efforts to strengthen national identity.

Afterwards, he oversaw the operational work at the Chancay Port.
