Peru: President Balcazar receives award from National University of Trujillo

The President of the Republic, Jose Maria Balcazar, was on Friday awarded the first-degree honorary distinction "Liberator Simon Bolivar" by the National University of Trujillo, in recognition of his professional career and service to the nation.

The Head of State expressed his gratitude for the recognition, stressing he receives it with honor.

Similarly, the top official reaffirmed his commitment to working in favor of public education nationwide.

The decoration ceremony took place as part of the 202nd anniversary of the aforementioned higher education institution.

At another point, the Head of State reiterated that the Executive Branch is fine-tuning the supplementary credit for the Chavimochic project, addressing requests from La Libertad region, and ensuring continuity for stalled public works.

Likewise, he highlighted that the forensic laboratory now operating in Trujillo will provide greater security for the city and the entire northern part of Peru.

During his visit to the National University of Trujillo, the President toured its historic ceremonial hall and admired the legacy of poet Cesar Vallejo through a collection of his original manuscripts and academic theses.

Upon leaving the ceremony, the Head of State told reporters he hopes Trujillo will continue moving forward and that security will prevail in the northern metropolis.

In that regard, he noted that the government fulfilled its commitment to deploy 500 police agents to the region to strengthen the fight against crime.
