The President of the Republic, Jose Maria Balcazar, took part Wednesday in the ceremony marking the 30th anniversary of the Constitutional Court (TC), as part of his official activities.

In attendance were institution members and other authorities as well.

During his remarks, the Head of State recalled that, as a congressman, he had taken part in the election of six TC magistrates who are currently exercising duties.

The top official highlighted that his administration has advanced projects in the country's southern region that had remained stalled for many years.

These projects include initiatives related to potable water, airports, and healthcare, sectors in which—he said—significant progress has been made.

Moreover, the President congratulated the TC on its recent ruling concerning the agrarian bonds.

He noted it was a decision "that has provided redress to the families who suffered the expropriations of the agrarian reform and is now before the Executive Branch to be regulated."

The ceremony was also attended by Constitutional Court Chairman Helder Dominguez.

"Through constitutional jurisprudence, concern for the individual and his or her rights must be at the forefront. (...) In cases where doubts exist, preference must be given to the individual rather than to the State or society," the magistrate stated.

The TC chairman acknowledged the existence of a backlog of cases at the Constitutional Court.

Moreover, Dominguez announced that the institution is implementing AI tools as auxiliary support.

In addition, he said the Court is introducing interoperability mechanisms with the Judiciary to help reduce its caseload.
