The Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) led the completion of the Multisectoral Working Group's efforts to propose improvements to the legal framework to combat transnational bribery, a crime that crosses borders and affects the integrity and fair competition of global trade.

At its final session, the working group approved the draft bill, its statement of reasons, and the final report, which compile a series of regulatory proposals aimed at strengthening the Peruvian State's capacity to prevent, investigate, and sanction this type of crime.

The approved proposals respond to recommendations made to Peru by the OECD Working Group on Bribery, as well as by other international organizations, within the framework of the country's commitments in the fight against corruption.

The regulatory package proposes amendments to the Criminal Code, the Criminal Procedure Code, Law No. 30424 — which regulates the administrative liability of legal entities — among other provisions, incorporating key adjustments to align national legislation with international standards.

This outcome is the result of technical work carried out by representatives of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, the Public Ministry (Prosecutor's Office), the Judiciary, the Attorney General's Office, and the PCM's Public Integrity Secretariat, which chaired the group.

With the task completed by this PCM-led working group, the Peruvian State advances in fulfilling its international commitments and strengthening its legal framework to address transnational bribery, the PCM stated.
