Peru: Only 5 COVID-19 patients entered ICU in last 24 hours

Only five (05) patients with the new coronavirus entered the Intensive Care Units (ICU) in the last 24 hours, while other 3,373 were discharged, the Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported on Tuesday.

According to the daily report, a total of 1,077 patients were admitted to ICUs to date, while 92,929 were discharged from hospitals or recovered at their homes as they had showed mild symptoms.

As is known, last Saturday the total number of patients in ICUs reached 1,062; this figure remained the same the following day; on Monday, the amount grew to 1,072, and it rose to 1,077 (+5) on Tuesday.

More than 200,000 COVID-19 cases

The information shows that the number of positive coronavirus cases in Peru reaches 203,736 to date (+4,040).

As for deaths from the disease, Minsa reports that these already total 5,738, that is to say 167 more deaths compared to last Monday's report.

The number of hospitalized patients reaches 9,903 so far —a 242 increase over the previous day.

More testing

Likewise, the number of tested citizens grows nationwide every day. As of June 9, 1,227,691 samples were processed —from molecular and rapid (serological) tests.

As a result, 203,736 tested positive, whereas the other 1,023,955 were healthy.
