Peru: Medical oxygen production and distribution declared of priority interest

The Executive Branch has declared the production and distribution of medical oxygen a strategic health resource of priority interest in Peru.

This was established by Supreme Decree No. 006-2021-SA, which was published on Sunday in the official gazette El Peruano.

The regulation provides that medical oxygen production and distribution to public and private health facilities shall be prioritized over industrial production, by oxygen producers.

Medical oxygen shall be considered a strategic health resource during the health emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, in accordance with the request made by the country's health authority.

The supreme decree was signed by Peruvian President Francisco Sagasti, Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez, Health Minister Pilar Mazzetti, and Production Minister Jose Luis Chicoma.
