The Peruvian capital city of Lima will host the First Latin American and Caribbean Conference on Peacekeeping Operations on September 6-7, 2022.

The event will be organized by the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, under the auspices of the United Nations.

The decision to hold this international forum was approved at the last meeting of the Integrated Intersectoral Mechanism for Peacekeeping Operations, held last Tuesday.

Said meeting saw the participation of Defense Minister Jose Luis Gavidia Arrascue; Foreign Affairs Minister Cesar Landa Arroyo; the Chief of the Joint Command of the Armed Forces, Army General Manuel Gomez de la Torre; and representatives of Peru to the United Nations; among other officials.

The Integrated Intersectoral Mechanism for Peacekeeping Operations facilitates coordination between the institutions involved with the successful participation of Peru in the peacekeeping operations launched by the United Nations in the world.

By holding this conference in Lima, Peru will assume regional leadership in the area of peacekeeping operations and will reaffirm its vocation for peace.

Moreover, the conference contributes to the efforts of the international community to tackle the serious challenges that the world faces in the fields of peace and security.
