Congress Chairman Jose Jeri Ore was sworn in as President of the Republic early on Friday, following Parliament's approval of the impeachment motion against Dina Boluarte due to permanent moral incapacity.

The swearing-in took place in accordance with Article 115 of the Constitution, which establishes the presidential line of succession.

"I swear to God, to my country, and to all Peruvians that I will faithfully exercise the office of President of the Republic, which I assume in accordance with the Political Constitution of Peru, from this moment until July 26, 2026; that I will defend the national sovereignty, the physical and moral integrity of our country; the independence of our democratic institutions; and that I will uphold and ensure compliance with our Political Constitution, the laws of our country, and the freedoms of our republic," Jeri Ore stated.

Afterwards, he received the presidential sash from legislator Fernando Rospigliosi, who will become Chairman of Congress.

In his first address to Parliament as Head of State, Jeri Ore expressed his commitment to citizen security and the fight against crime during the transitional government he will lead through July 2026.

Likewise, he pledged to ensure the transparency and neutrality of the 2026 electoral process.

The new President also expressed regret for past mistakes.

Moreover, the top official promised to "begin laying the foundations of a country that, through empathy, fosters reconciliation among all Peruvians."

"We must start laying those foundations today," he added.
