The Minister of Economy and Finance, Denisse Miralles, stated today that Peru's Government has moved “from defensive to offensive in the fight against crime,” by transferring more than S/ 48 million (US$ 14.3 million) to the Public Prosecutor's Office to strengthen its operational and logistical capacity in the fight against organized crime.
She made this statement during her address at a meeting with business associations, specifying that this transfer was authorized by Supreme Decree No. 239-2025-EF.

“President José Jerí’s government prioritizes guaranteeing the safety and well-being of Peruvian families. At the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), we are ensuring the necessary resources for the Public Prosecutor’s Office to act effectively in defense of the citizenry,” stated the Minister of Economy and Finance, Denisse Miralles.
The head of the MEF emphasized that strengthening security goes hand in hand with an agenda of simplification and efficiency in public administration.
In this regard, she announced a sweeping debureaucratization effort aimed at eliminating, simplifying, and streamlining procedures that do not add value, in order to unleash productive energy and accelerate private and public investment.
She also reported that the MEF is drafting an emergency decree on fiscal efficiency to prioritize spending on projects with tangible impact and limit those that are not essential.
These measures will allow for an estimated savings of S/ 1.2 billion (US$ 356 million) over the next two months, reinforcing the country’s economic sustainability.
“Simplifying is not improvising; it’s organizing with intelligence and responsibility. Every public sol must generate results and jobs. That is the path for a state that moves forward with stability and confidence,” emphasized Minister Denisse Miralles.
Finally, the minister highlighted that Peru remains among the five Latin American countries with a solid investment grade rating, supported by tax revenue that grew 10.9% at the close of the third quarter.
Thanks to this performance, tax revenues are projected to reach S/ 173 billion (US$ 51.418 billion) by the end of this year, significantly exceeding the 2024 target and reflecting renewed confidence in the stability and strength of the national economy.
“The state and the private sector are strategic allies in generating well-being and building the nation. Let us continue to unite for a Peru that produces, trusts, and progresses,” she concluded.
