The National Penitentiary Institute (INPE) on Friday denied the version of a meeting between Head of State Dina Boluarte and former President Alberto Fujimori, who is currently imprisoned at Barbadillo Penitentiary Center in Lima.

In a statement, the institution attached to the Justice Ministry clarified what was stated in this regard, via journalistic media outlets, by lawyer Eduardo Pachas —legal defender of ex-President Pedro Castillo, who is currently serving pre-trial detention at Barbadillo Prison.

Said version "is false," the INPE said in a statement.

Call on visitors

The INPE also denied that the alleged visits had been held on various occasions, as Pachas pointed out.

Therefore, the INPE urged citizens, "especially professionals who visit prisons," not to disclose inaccurate information about the people who are confined in their facilities.
