Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez has announced that a set of complementary measures will be presented on May 26, which are aimed at reactivating the economy of the nation's families.

Within this framework, the high-ranking official stated that the figures presented by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) pose a very great challenge "because they prove that there is great fragility in the sustainability of family income."

"Therefore, we are analyzing a set of measures that we have requested to the various teams of ministries, and next Wednesday we will be presenting some complementary measures which are aimed at reactivating the economy of families," she indicated.

The Cabinet chief explained that this will be the focus of such measures, taking into account that many families have not generated income, which is associated with the evolution of the pandemic.

"Seeking this balance between what it means to take care of our health and take care of the family economy is a policy of the Transition and Emergency Government, and next Wednesday, if not before, a package of complementary measures will be presented (…)," she stressed.

Furthermore, the high-ranking official explained that monetary poverty increased significantly between the second and third quarters of 2020, periods which saw radical confinement.

Respect for protocol

Moreover, Bermudez reminded political parties participating in the presidential runoff election to respect the electoral campaign protocol with the aim of preventing the spread of COVID-19 during party meetings or rallies.
