The National Elections Board (JNE)
According to the
JNE, six topics will be discussed on the occasion.
These are:
1. Peru in the Bicentennial
2. Health and pandemic management
3. Economy and job promotion
4. Education, science and innovation
5. Fight against corruption and public integrity
6. Human rights, social politics and assistance to vulnerable populations
Concerning the format, the debate will begin with a 3-minute statement from each candidate and continue with a question-and-answer session between them about the abovementioned topics.
This is aimed at enabling the candidates to discuss and explain their proposals.
Likewise, Peruvian citizens will be able to make two questions per topic.
Lastly, the two candidates will have the chance to give a closing statement.
The
JNE has organized presidential debates since 2011.
On the coming occasion, a technical debate will be held on May 23 followed by that of candidates a week later, on May 30.
The election runoff will take place on June 6, 2021.
