Peru: Government praises workers who fight against COVID-19

On International Workers' Day, the Lima-based Government Palace's facade was illuminated with images depicting members of the Health sector, National Police, Armed Forces, and other professionals who are on the frontline in the fight against coronavirus (COVID-19).

Thus, the Government paid tribute to the workers who dedicate all their efforts to stop the coronavirus spread in Peru.

A compilation of images of nurses, doctors, police, and military personnel were screened, as well as those of patients, among whom 90-year-old Valerio Santa Cruz stood out. He is one of the eldest Peruvians to have recovered from COVID-19.

The event took place within the framework of a mandatory social isolation imposed to prevent the COVID-19 from further spreading in the South American country.

Initially set to last from March 16 to 30, the measure has been recently extended thru May 10.

Friday marks the forty-seventh day of mandatory social isolation in Peru.
