Peru: First Ministers Council agrees on measures to strengthen citizen security, economy

During the first regular Council of Ministers session led by President of the Republic, Keiko Fujimori, together with Cabinet Chief Luis Galarreta, a series of measures to strengthen public safety, boost employment, and modernize the State for the benefit of the country were reviewed.

As the first item on the agenda, the Council reviewed the supreme decree requesting legislative powers from Congress to provide the Government with immediate legal tools to firmly address Peru's most pressing challenges, enabling a faster and more effective State response to crime and the population's needs.

This measure will be approved at the next Council of Ministers meeting.

The Council also addressed extending and strengthening the state of emergency in the National Penitentiary System in order to implement operational and prison reforms aimed at restoring control and authority in the country's prisons.

This first action marks the start of an administration focused on delivering results, working in a coordinated manner to ensure order and development for all Peruvians.
