The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has received the international ISO 9001 certification, awarded by Certificaciones del Peru (Cerper), recognizing its sustained commitment to quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement in the delivery of services related to foreign and consular policy.

During the ceremony, Foreign Affairs Minister Hugo de Zela underscored that this recognition positions the Ministry as the only public institution in the country to have maintained and renewed—uninterruptedly for more than 20 years—a certification based on international standards, consolidating what he described as an exemplary institutional track record in Peruvian public administration.

The ISO 9001 certification covers strategic functions such as economic promotion—aimed at boosting foreign trade, investment, tourism, and gastronomy—carried out through the Directorate General of Economic Promotion.

Likewise, the standard's scope includes the management of Peruvian communities abroad and consular services—such as the legalization and apostille of documents, both in person and digitally—as well as services provided at the Consulate General of Peru in Los Angeles.

The quality management system also incorporates institutional support processes, including staff training, the handling of information technology service requests, and document management.

Minister De Zela highlighted that the certification incorporates for the first time a fully digital process, strengthening traceability, efficiency, transparency, and timeliness in the delivery of services to citizens.

In turn, Certificaciones del Peru (Cerper) General Manager Miguel Caillaux underscored the Ministry's leadership, sense of responsibility, and vocation for excellence.

He also recalled that the institution obtained its first ISO 9001 certification on January 25, 2006.
