The Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Teresa Mera, projected that next year the number of tourists arriving in the country will reach 4.4 million visitors.

"By 2026, we expect to increase the number of tourists; we are thinking of approximately 4.4 million tourists. It is a moderate projection because we are still working on the projections for this year," she commented during her visit to the Gamarra commercial district.

In this way, inbound tourism in 2026 would reach pre-pandemic levels.

Minister Mera asserted that her sector is taking many actions to diversify tourism promotion and thus increase the arrival of visitors to the country.

According to the Peruvian Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (Apavit), approximately 3.9 million tourists will arrive in Peru this year, with an estimated increase of around 15% for next year.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), between January and November of this year, Peru received 3,810,219 international visitors, consolidating a sustained recovery in tourism.

This figure represents a year-on-year growth of 4.5% and a 78.6% recovery compared to the levels reached in the same period of 2019.

Of the total international visitors, 3,130,121 were foreign tourists and 680,098 were international excursionists. Tourists represented 82.2% of the total, while excursionists accounted for 17.8%, demonstrating a solid and diversified demand for the country's tourism offerings.
