Former Health Minister Abel Salinas welcomed the Peruvian Government's
decision to extend —until April 12— the state of health emergency in the country, in a joint effort to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus.
"Without a doubt, expanding the period of home isolation was necessary, since the virus has not been contained yet; so we all must support it, without exception," the former government official noted.
During this emergency, he said, citizens must take these measures very calmly, because they are absolutely necessary. We are aware that a large proportion of the working population is independent and another informal, "but, today, we need to be patient and think about our health first."
"The State is seeking possible ways to bring aid to this group of citizens, and we cannot lose our temper because, by doing so, we will be encouraging social uprising, which would worsen the frontal fight against COVID-19," he emphasized.
Salinas highlighted the work of health professionals, doctors, nurses, technologists and technicians, who have proved their readiness
in the fight against coronavirus.
"We must take care of medical human resources, since they comprise a team that we must invariably protect, just as their relatives. They are on the front line of the battle and need to work calmly now as well as at the end of the fight against this virus," he added.
