Peru PM: Coronavirus will not defeat us if we remain united

Peru's Prime Minister Vicente Zeballos on Thursday affirmed that this rival, coronavirus, will not defeat Peruvians, "if we remain united."

In a message broadcast on social networks, the cabinet chief noted that containing the spread of the virus across the country is a difficult task. However, he highlighted the solidarity of Peruvians saying it is "secure against everything."

"We are a single team called Peru, and we are showing courage in the game. This rival will not defeat us if we remain united. #YoMeQuedoEnCasa (I stay at home)," he expressed.

According to the Ministry of Health (Minsa), the number of patients infected with coronavirus (COVID-19) rose to 480 in Peru as at Wednesday at 00:00 hours (local time).

Confirmed cases were reported in the capital city of Lima (369), followed by the regions: Piura (19), Loreto (18), Lambayeque (12), Junin (11), Arequipa (10), Callao (10), Cusco (10), La Libertad (6), Ancash (5), Tumbes (3), Huanuco (2), Ica (2), Madre de Dios (1), San Martin (1), and Cajamarca (1). Other 7,560 samples tested negative for COVID-19.

On the other hand, the death toll stands at 9 so far.
