Former Prime Minister Pedro Cateriano on Tuesday reported the shooting attack against Libertad Popular (Popular Freedom) presidential pre-candidate, Rafael Belaunde Llosa, in Cerro Azul district, Cañete province, south of Lima.
"This shooting attack must be firmly condemned (…) It should not happen in our country," the former government official emphasized.
Cateriano noted that the incident had no fatal consequences.
"Fortunately, they failed to achieve their intended goal," he said in remarks to RPP Noticias.
The former Prime Minister indicated that Belaunde is in good condition.
"He is completing all the legal procedures with the police," Cateriano pointed out.
