In a bid to strengthen the presence of Peruvian agricultural products in the global market, Agrarian Development and Irrigation Minister Felipe Meza held a working meeting with his Turkish counterpart, Ibrahim Yumakli, within the framework of the 5th Istanbul International Water Forum.

The meeting made it possible to advance the main pillars of the bilateral agenda between the two countries.

Trade opening

Mechanisms to speed up the entry of coffee, avocados, cacao, and livestock products into the Turkish market were evaluated.

The prioritized products are part of Peru's agro-export basket with the strongest international presence.

Sustainability

Coordination of joint actions for the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists 2026, as part of global efforts linked to the sustainable management of productive ecosystems.

Water management

Exchange of experiences aimed at improving the resilience of productive systems in the face of climate change.

The water component is key to agricultural productivity in a context of climate variability.

Meanwhile, Minister Meza highlighted the importance of promoting efficient and sustainable water resource management in the agricultural sector.

"From Midagri, we are fostering strategic actions to ensure the sustainable use of water for the benefit of the country," the Cabinet member underscored.

He also stressed that resilience depends not only on infrastructure, but on proper governance and evidence-based decision-making.
