Peru: Alberto Fujimori sends support message to daughter Keiko

17:25 | Lima, Nov. 2.

Former President Alberto Fujimori on Friday sent a message of support to his daughter Keiko, who currently serves a 36-month preventive prison, as ordered by a Peruvian Judge two days ago.

Via Twitter, 80-year-old Fujimori indicated he regrets having introduced his daughter to the world of politics and asked her for forgiveness.

Keiko served as Peru's First Lady, Congresswoman and ran twice for President, being defeated in the run-offs.

"I can only hope that I'm strong enough and alive to see you —just like on that day— free (and) next to my little granddaughters," he posted.

After having fled to Japan and traveling to Chile —from where he was extradited to Peru— the patriarch was sentenced for crimes against human rights and corruption committed during his term in office.

The message was sent from the clinic, where Alberto Fujimori has been hospitalized since the day his humanitarian pardon was revoked by the Judicial Branch
