Serological or rapid tests are already being used throughout the territory, said Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra, noting that the 330,000 rapid tests received by Peru have been distributed in all regions.

After announcing that coronavirus (COVID-19) cases have so far increased to 2,954, the Head of State explained that such figure shows the results obtained only through molecular testing

However, serological or rapid tests are already being conducted in the national territory and have resulted in 532 positive cases to date.

"We did not want to combine the results of rapid tests with those generated by molecular tests, which are the ones we report every day, so as not to cause distortion," the top official stated.

"Nevertheless, 10,104 rapid tests have been conducted across the country, 9,572 of which were negative and 532 were positive. These 532 people have been identified and, obviously —with their knowledge— are being monitored," he emphasized.

The 330,000 rapid tests were distributed in: Ancash (2,800), Amazonas (700), Apurimac (700), Arequipa (2,800), Ayacucho (700), Cajamarca (2,800), Callao (2,800 ), Cusco (2,800), Huancavelica (700), Huanuco (2,800), Ica (2,800), Junin (2,800), La Libertad (5,250), Lambayeque (2,800), Loreto (2,800), Madre de Dios (2,800), Moquegua (700), Pasco (700), Piura (2,800), Puno (700), San Martin (2,800), Tacna (700), Tumbes (2,800), Ucayali (700), and Lima (700).
