Presidential candidate Keiko Fujimori (Popular Force Party) on Sunday called on citizens to go out and cast their ballots in the June 7 presidential runoff election.

Within this framework, she urged poll watchers from both parties to be present at polling stations.

The presidential hopeful made the remarks at the Las Rocas community kitchen in the El Paraiso housing association, Lima's San Juan de Lurigancho district.

There, she arrived accompanied by her daughters, Kyara and Kaori, and her sister Sachi for the traditional election-day breakfast.

"We invite and ask all citizens to go out and vote. Today is very important; every vote counts," Fujimori expressed.

"It is also essential that those who have registered as poll watchers, from both parties, all be present and serve as defenders of democracy," she added.

Likewise, the candidate noted that Flag Day is commemorated today and noted it was symbolic that the election is being held on the same occasion.

Moreover, the Popular Force candidate mentioned that her commitment is to the unity of all citizens and called for faith and hope.

Keiko Fujimori also said she hopes that, as her party's chairwoman, this will be her last election-day breakfast as a candidate so that "later on, further down the road, in the future, I can accompany other candidates."
