Economy and Finance Minister Denisse Miralles reaffirmed the projected 3.5% growth of Peruvian Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for this year, which would place it above the regional average.

"We are in an economic consolidation process. As you know, we are ensuring that our growth target of 3.5% for the end of 2025 is met, well above the regional average," Miralles stated.

"We are called to be the leaders of the region. We must occupy that space, and this will happen as long as we maintain macroeconomic strength and fiscal solidity, because we must continue fostering competitiveness, investment, and decentralized development," she added.

The government official stated that the law establishing special tax and customs treatment for Private Special Economic Zones (Law No. 32449) represents a decisive step in that direction.

"This is an important mechanism, an economic policy tool that, if well implemented and paired with the right incentives, will allow us to achieve the goal of taking our country to that leap in industrialization and generating decentralized economic development, harnessing the potential of its various regions," Miralles asserted.

"This is a modern, predictable framework aligned with the best international practices, aimed at turning our regions into true hubs of industrial, technological, and export development," she added.

During the 4th International Forum on Private Special Economic Zones, organized by the Lima Chamber of Commerce, the minister emphasized that the goal is to attract responsible private investment which creates formal jobs and diversifies the economy.

"The tax and customs treatment introduced by this law should not be seen merely as a fiscal incentive, but as a lever to stimulate productivity and formalization. Each tax benefit is tied to concrete commitments in investment, job creation, innovation, and the export of value-added goods," Miralles stated.

"The law establishes that each region of the country must have at least one Private Special Economic Zone. This principle of productive decentralization is at the heart of economic policy," she concluded.
