Loreto plans up to $1.5bln investment for infrastructure

The sanitary and road infrastructure currently underway and projected in north-eastern Peru’s Loreto region will require an investment of over 4 billion soles (US$ 1.5 billion), said Loreto regional president, Ivan Vasquez.
For instance, it is running the work of a sewage water treatment plant in the city of Iquitos with an investment of US$ 230 million, in order to avoid contaminating the rivers around the capital Loreto.

Likewise, Vasquez mentioned the project of the Mazan hydroelectric power plant which demands an investment of US$ 153.8 million. 

He praised the project which will boost the economy of Loreto and would begin next year named “Yurimaguas-Iquitos” railway project with a US$ 769.2 million private investment. 

Moreover, Vasquez announced the launch of the road realignment plan of Iquitos which consists of building a tram system from Bellavista-Nanay to Quistococha and a highway. This initiative would require an investment of US$ 461.5 million.
