11:25 | Asuncion (Paraguay), May. 7.

Lima was selected to host the 2027 Sports Summit, one of the region's most important events for analyzing and strengthening public sports policies.

The designation was confirmed during the Sports Summit Asuncion 2026, held within the framework of the 26th General Assembly of the American Sports Council (CADE), which brought together authorities and representatives from across the continent.

Lima's candidacy was promoted by Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD) Chairman Sergio Ludeña.

He led the efforts and presented to international representatives the organizational capabilities Peru is projecting ahead of Lima 2027, securing approval for the Peruvian capital to host the event.

The 2027 Sports Summit will take place during the first half of the year and will bring together ministers, deputy ministers, and sports authorities from the Americas and Ibero-America in Lima.

The event will turn the city into the region's sports capital for the promotion and exchange of public policies, management strategies, and international cooperation aimed at advancing sports development across the region.

The meeting will have a continental and Ibero-American scope, with the participation of countries from the Americas, as well as Spain and Portugal.

It will include specialized forums, bilateral meetings, and assemblies of the American Sports Council (CADE), the South American Sports Council (CONSUDE), the Central American and Caribbean Sports Council (CONCECADE), and the Ibero-American Sports Council (CID).

Peru will host this international summit during a landmark year for national sports, as it will serve as a prelude to the Lima 2027 Pan American and Parapan American Games.

The event will strengthen the country's position as a regional benchmark in sports organization and the coordination of public policies linked to sports.
