Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Javier Gonzalez-Olaechea on Friday held a meeting with Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Secretary-General Mathias Cormann, at which they discussed Peru's progress in its accession process to this international bloc.

"It is a pleasure to meet with the OECD Secretary-General, Mathias Cormann, to update him on the progress and efforts that Peru has been undertaking towards its accession to that organization which, as Minister of Foreign Affairs, I ratify through this official visit," he wrote on the OECD guest book.

At the meeting, the government official reaffirmed Peru's commitment to continue with the accession process.

Within this framework, the Cabinet member said work on the implementation of the recommendations issued by the committees that evaluate the Peruvian candidacy goes on.

In that sense, the Cabinet member affirmed that Peru has taken each of the evaluations from this process very seriously.

To date, evaluations have been conducted by four committees on issues related to public governance and budget management, among others.

Two of them have provided formal recommendations regarding reforms that are requested to be carried out.

Moreover, Minister Gonzalez-Olaechea held a meeting with officials from the OECD Directorate for Legal Affairs in charge of Peru's accession process.
