Peruvian rock band Emergency Blanket has won the indie/rock/punk/metal category at The People's Music Awards 2009.

Thanks to their fans' online votes, Emergency Blanket made it through the first round of this independent band contest held in London, England.

The Peruvian band then progressed to the final round as one of the five bands selected by an elite group of judges such as Mick Glossop (Van Morrison, Frak Zappa, etc.) and Tony Platt (Led Zeppelin, The Who, Rolling Stones, Bob Marly, etc.).

In the finals, the band received glowing comments from a number of renowned music industry professionals.

"A very strong sounding group with shades of Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Jane's Addiction and REM...," said Xfm's music guru John Kennedy.

"Excellent! - This band can play - Expect interest from anyone with ears for good music," commented record producer Mick Glossop.

The music of Peruvian rock band Emergency Blanket is charged of life and energy. With influences from rock classics from the 60's, 70's and 90's "the Blankets" achieved a very classical but yet very fresh and original sound.

On November of 2008 the band released their first LP titled "Combi + Nation" (available on i-tunes). This new album is filled with intense and melodious songs that varies in styles and make of this LP a very rich experience from the very fist song to the last.

In 2006 Rolling Stone Magazine (South American Central Edition) published an article with the heading... "The band that breaks with language the frontiers" making reference to the band's innovative caracteristics of singing in English, Spanish and even songs that mix both languages.
