The Colca Valley in Arequipa is preparing to welcome the New Year and the approximately 3,000 tourists expected to arrive to enjoy the area's natural beauty and tranquility, according to Silvia Farfán Molina, manager of the Colca Autonomous Authority.

"We expect approximately 3,000 visitors between now and January 2, 2026," she told the Andina News Agency.

During this period, the arrival of national and international tourists interested in exploring the Colca Valley and its natural and archaeological attractions is anticipated.

Farfán noted that local tourism decreases significantly during this time, as Arequipa residents choose to spend New Year's at the beach.

In this sense, the outlook changes for national and international tourists, who do seek to explore the natural areas of the Colca Valley during this period.

Various attractions

The Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint is one of the most visited destinations for tourists interested in observing the flight of condors in the area.

The town of Maca, its main square, and the colonial church are other attractions in the Colca Valley, as are the traditional dances of the region.

The La Calera hot springs are also a popular tourist destination. They are located 15 minutes from the district of Chivay, the capital of the Caylloma province.

The Colca Valley is a four-hour drive from the city of Arequipa. Buses to the valley depart from the main bus terminal in the so-called White City.
