China Today, a multilingual monthly magazine published by China International Publishing Group (CIPG), has just opened an office in Lima in an effort to strengthen bilateral ties between Peru and the Asean country.

Chinese Ambassador to Lima Zhao Wuyi, Executive Vice President of CIPG Guo Xiaoyong, and Director of Confucio Institute-PUCP Ruben Tang, hosted today the opening ceremony.

Zhao Wuyi said this magazine is a new window to consolidate frienship and communication between Peru and China, and an important tool for entrepreneurs.

Guo Xiaoyong said that China Today's presence in Peru is a concrete steep to strengthen cultural and social ties between both countries.

"We have made the right decision. Our magazine has taken a step forward to strengthen relations because we're building a bridge to improve communication and mutual knowledge", he told Andina.

China Today is published in six printed editions, including English, Spanish, French, Arabic, Chinese and Tibetan, and also six online digital editions, including English, Spanish, French, Arabic, Chinese, and German.

The magazine gives factual information on China's society, economy, life, culture and customs, arts and topography. Its readership is spread over more than 150 countries and regions.

Launched in Mexico City in 2004, the Latin American Branch of China Today is in charge of the publishing and distribution of the Spanish edition of China Today in Latin America and the promotion of CIPG books and magazines in this region.

Its distribution covers several Central and South American countries, including Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Panama and now Peru.
