Presidents Martin Vizcarra (Peru), Ivan Duque (Colombia), Lenin Moreno (Ecuador), Evo Morales (Bolivia), Vice-President Michael Ashwin Adhin (Suriname), Foreign Affairs Minister Ernesto Araujo (Brazil), and Natural Resources Minister Raphael Trotman (Guyana) on Friday signed the Presidential Declaration on the Pact for the Conservation of Rainforests in the Amazon, also known as the Pact of Leticia for the Amazonia.

The signing took place within the framework of the Amazon Summit held in the Colombian city.

Furthermore, Presidents Morales and Moreno agreed on that it is necessary to recover ancestral knowledge and put it to use in order to protect nature.

Thus, the countries are committed to coordinating —through foreign affairs ministries and competent authorities— the creation of a plan to develop actions, as well as holding follow-up meetings with the purpose of reviewing the progress made on the formulation and implementation of the plan.
