Upon arrival in Leticia, the Peruvian leader reiterated his commitment to the Amazonia.

"We are at the border between Peru and Colombia to reaffirm our commitment to preserving the Amazon —a source of life and lungs of the planet— at the Amazon Summit. Earlier, in Santa Rosa de Yavari, we talked to its leading advocates: the locals from that community."

The event is attended by Presidents Ivan Duque (Colombia), Lenin Moreno (Ecuador), Evo Morales (Bolivia), and Suriname Vice-President Michael Ashwin Adhin.

The information above was confirmed Thursday by Colombian Foreign Affairs Minister Carlos Holmes Trujillo.

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro "will be present via video conference due to medical reasons and will send his Foreign Affairs Minister Ernesto Araujo to Leticia," Trujillo added.
