Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Friday affirmed that he will attend a Congress plenary session on Monday supported by arguments —of form and substance— against the request for presidential vacancy promoted by a sector of Parliament.

"I had requested that it (the presentation) be held today, but I respect Congress, which did not accept my request. Thus, I will be attending the session on Monday with reasons and arguments of form and substance that will clearly support that the request for vacancy in these circumstances is not appropriate," he expressed.

The Head of State stressed that there is no time to waste, adding that his administration continues working for the sake of citizens.

Last Wednesday, Congress Chairman Manuel Merino said that it was not possible to change the date of the plenary session to Friday. The coming event will serve to address the second impeachment motion against President Vizcarra. It is scheduled for Monday, November 9.

According to him, the official letter —requesting that the session be advanced to November 6— was analyzed to give a response to the president.

Merino argued that it was not possible to change the date because it was an agreement approved at a plenary session, and it was not his or the Board's authority to modify that decision.
