The Directorate of Integrated Health Networks (Diris) in Eastern Lima —an entity attached to the Ministry of Health (Minsa)— reported that more than 15,000 elderly people over 80 years of age have been vaccinated against COVID-19 at nine vaccination sites set up in this jurisdiction under the Tayta Vaccine strategy.

On the matter, Dr. Antonieta Alarcon —the head of Diris in Eastern Lima— expressed satisfaction with the results reported between April 23 and 26.

Mobility problems

"The new vaccination strategy was designed to provide comfort to the elderly people, many of whom have mobility problems and cannot stand for a long time," the official pointed out.

Under this modality, senior citizens are placed in spaces specially conditioned to avoid them and their companions moving and queuing, while health workers approach to complete the inoculation process.

Seven districts across Lima

"Thanks to Tayta Vaccine and Vacuna Car (vaccination drive-thru) posts set up in some vaccination sites this weekend, we have vaccinated more elderly people over 80 years of age more comfortably, in seven districts across eastern Lima," Alarcon concluded.
