Peruvians strike twice in Trinidad and Tobago

10:37 | Couva, Trinidad & Tobago, Feb. 07 (ANDINA).

Goals from Claudio Pizarro and Rinaldo Cruzado gave Peru a 2-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago in a friendly match played in Couva on Wednesday night.

Pizarro struck in the first half and Cruzado sealed the win just before the full time whistle for the Peruvians, who are preparing for a crucial World Cup qualifier at home next month.

La Blanquirroja took the lead in the 28th minute when Bayern Munich striker Pizarro slotted home the rebound following a Jefferson Farfan shot.

Peru had a couple of chances after the goal, but it wasn't until the 88th minute when Sergio Markarian's men would double their lead, with Chievo Verona midfielder Cruzado scoring from outside the box to give his side the insurance marker.

The win gives Peru a bit of positive momentum heading into their next match, a March 22 meeting with Chile in World Cup qualifying action.
