Afro-Peruvian singer Eva Ayllon and her band will perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City on Saturday, October 26.
The foremost exponent of the vibrant Peruvian musica criolla returns to Carnegie Hall for a one-night-only concert featuring her timeless vocals, larger-than-life stage presence, and outstanding dance moves, Broadwayworld.com reported.
Reflecting the musical genres of the coastal plains of Lima, Ayllon-known for singing the landó, festejo, and vals-brings elements of all mestizo blends of Peru's indigenous, African, and Spanish musical heritage together with call-and-response, complex syncopation, and melancholic melodies to give audiences a powerful show that reflects her country's diverse ancestry.
For this performance -part of Ayllon's 2013 tour- her band includes Marco Campos (congas, cajón, and Afro-Peruvian percussion),Moises Lama (piano), Mariano Liy (bass), Eddy Sanchez (guitar), Jesus "Gigio" Parodi (Peruviancajón and percussion), José Villanueva (trumpet), Yula Pumarada (vocals), and Nadia Calmet(choreography).
Ayllon, who made her Carnegie Hall debut in front of a sold-out audience in 2008, is currently working on an album of boleros that will take listeners on a journey from Lima to Havana via San Juan.
