Demonstrating great Christmas spirit, several Peruvian athletes who won medals at the XX Bolivarian Games Ayacucho – Lima 2025 came together to begin the celebrations for this special time of year.

They assembled a traditional Nativity scene and decorated the Christmas tree.

Jean Paul de Trazegnies (sailing), Saida Salcedo (karate), Alexandra Zavala (archery), Jesús Herreras (wushu), Adrián Infante (diving), Mayte Salinas (diving), Facundo Meza (diving), Mateo Argomedo (taekwondo), and Fabiana Varillas (taekwondo) met at the Videna IPD (Peruvian Sports Village) and took home a beautiful Christmas souvenir, in addition to sharing their experiences as Bolivarian Games medalists.

“We wish you a joyful and healthy holiday season in harmony with your loved ones. Remember that, just like in sports, unity is key! Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year!” our champions exclaimed.

Focused on more victories

One of the most enthusiastic about this Christmas celebration was Jean Paul de Trazegnies, who won the silver medal in the Sunfish individual sailing class, and is part of the Lima 2027 Program of the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD).

“I’m closing out the year in the best way possible with a medal at the Bolivarian Games, which marks the beginning of my preparation for the Lima 2027 Pan American Games. Now it’s time to enjoy the Christmas holidays with my family and start focusing on achieving more victories in 2026,” he said.

A Great Year

Saida Salcedo, a member of the IPD's Athlete Support Program (PAD), also had a fantastic year.

The silver medalist in women's team kata—along with Sol Romaní and Andrea Almarza—stated that “winning a medal at the Bolivarian Games and on the World Circuit was a huge boost, which motivates us to achieve even better results in 2026.”

It's also worth noting that Alexandra Zavala won the silver medal in recurve archery team; Jesús Herreras the gold medal in wushu; Mayte Salinas the bronze medal in individual diving; Adrián Infante and Facundo Meza won the bronze medal in pairs diving; and Mateo Argomedo and Fabiana Varillas took first place in mixed pair freestyle poomsae in taekwondo.

In 2026, the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD) affirmed its continued support for athletes and para-athletes through the 2025-2028 Olympic Cycle, Lima 2027, and High-Performance Athletes Program (PAD), reinforcing its commitment to high performance so that Peruvian athletes can continue achieving international success.
