The president of the National Elections Board (JNE), Roberto Burneo, indicated today that, to date, 1,432 candidate lists (out of the 2,021 expected lists) and 6,963 resumes have been submitted, as part of the process leading up to the general elections of April 12, 2026.
"So far, the vast majority of political organizations have managed to submit 100% of their slates and candidate lists. There are a few, three, that have only submitted physical copies; they are currently at zero, but they have managed to submit physical copies, and this will be updated," he assured at a press conference.
He also mentioned that the three organizations listed as having zero points, and some that have not yet submitted 100% of their candidates, are online ("logined with Declara+"), so they can submit their slates and lists within the next few hours.
He further detailed that these figures represent a 70.86% progress rate.
The head of the National Elections Board (JNE) clarified that the figures released correspond to the information cutoff at 8:00 a.m. and that political organizations can submit their remaining lists and slates until noon today.
He also specified that of the 36 organizations participating in next year's elections, only two have not submitted presidential slates because they were unable to do so in the primary elections. These are Frepap and Ciudadanos Por el Perú.
"All the others can still do so; we expect them to be able to do so by the close," he emphasized.
"We will publish the final report at the end of the day, which is noon," he stated, indicating that the political organizations listed as having zero points... percent are Primero la Gente (People First), Partido de los Trabajadores y Emprendedores (Workers' and Entrepreneurs' Party), and Fé en el Perú (Faith in Peru).
Qualification
At another point, Roberto Burneo stated that the qualification stage for these candidate lists is next. "They will be evaluated; this list of candidates is already in the qualification stage at the Special Electoral Juries (JEE). Some have already reported inadmissibility decisions that can be rectified within 48 hours," he said.
He also indicated that the JEEs are reviewing the lists to ensure they comply with the alternation and parity requirements at the national level.
"Some lists will probably be flagged, but that doesn't mean they've been disqualified. They simply have 48 hours to rectify the issues. We'll see in the coming days," he explained, clarifying that according to the regulations, the qualification process takes three days.
Finally, he emphasized that after those 48 hours, it will be known whether the flagged lists can continue in the race.
