The President of the Republic Francisco Sagasti on Friday affirmed that transparency, efficiency, and order in the implementation of the National Vaccination Plan against COVID-19 must be ensured.
The statesman reminded governors that so far no purchases of vaccine doses are made through private agents at the international level.

Remarks were made while attending the swearing-in ceremony of the new Board of Directors of the National Assembly of Regional Governments (ANGR).
"I want to congratulate the regional governments that have already installed, as well those that will soon install their working groups to supervise the vaccination plan in their regions since we must guarantee transparency, efficiency, and order in the implementation of this plan," he expressed.
The Head of State recalled that —when he became President in November 2020— the Republic of Peru did not rely on any firm contracts for the purchase of vaccines, but letters of intent and a framework contract that required other specific agreements in order to be valid.
Likewise, the top official indicated that
his administration continues to actively negotiate with the nine vaccine-supplying companies in order to ensure more doses for the nation.
"What we have seen are some unscrupulous attempts by agents to offer vaccines without guarantee and, as Interpol has pointed out, those are counterfeit vaccines," he noted.
In this sense, the President reaffirmed that his administration will be extremely cautious not only about the availability, but also the authenticity and quality of the purchased doses.
Lastly, Mr. Sagasti emphasized that the Government is willing to sign contracts to rely on authentic vaccines for all Peruvians.
