The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Wednesday affirmed that the frontal fight against corruption and impunity requires the participation of all sectors of society, in order to achieve comprehensive public administration.

Within this framework, the Head of State called on the new regional and local authorities —who will take office in January 2023— to join the anti-corruption agenda so that their administrations develop under an approach against this scourge.

"Sisters and brothers, the frontal fight against corruption and impunity requires the participation of citizens, private companies, the media, the powers of the State, and the public administration as a whole," she expressed.

In this sense, the top official affirmed that her administration receives the anti-corruption agenda not only with a sense of urgency, but as a firm commitment to Peruvians so as to correct past mistakes "and build a reliable country to which we all aspire."

"The fight against corruption must start at home; during these 21 days of Government, we have taken steps in that direction, and the country has witnessed it; we have arranged the Presidential Office reshuffle to project a transparent work image," she said.

Council of Ministers

In this regard, the President affirmed that there will be no "more cabinets in the shadow" since the appointed Council of Ministers is "committed to the country."

Mrs. Boluarte added that its members "will travel to the (country's) interior to solve the population's problems that had not been solved."

The Head of State affirmed that having sworn in ministers so that they do not commit any corruption acts "(…) will not remain a dead letter, nor will it be an oath to the rostrum as had been the case so many times in the past, but it will be strictly enforced."

"There is no space for the payment for favors; we are clear that the (Peruvian) State does not belong to the sitting Government, but to all Peruvians, despite being a transition period; this will not be a Government on automatic pilot, but rather a Government of action so as not to leave things as they are," she underlined.
