on Thursday announced that the second batch of coronavirus vaccines (700,000 doses) from the Chinese laboratory Sinopharm is on its way and will arrive in Lima this Saturday.
In a televised address to the nation, the Head of State indicated that an aircraft carrying the cargo today left Beijing (China) for Amsterdam (the Netherlands), where it will land on Friday to make the respective transfer towards Peru.
Furthermore, the top official thanked everyone involved in these enormous efforts to bring the vaccines to the South American country. In fact, he thanked the
Chinese Embassy's Chargé d'Affaires Li Yun for the support provided now and in the future.
"We will continue to work tirelessly until we ensure that we rely on the doses for all Peruvians, as well as on the distribution and administration system that is working in practice," he said.
Moreover, the statement noted that —as in each complex task— there are difficulties, but these will be overcome with efforts, commitment, and ingenuity.
"This is how Peru is facing this challenge. I invite you to continue working together as we have been doing so far," he added.
