The President of the Republic Francisco Sagasti on Tuesday affirmed that the most important thing —at this time— is to maintain calm and trust in the institutions in charge of the presidential runoff election held on June 6.

The Head of State recalled that he had spoken with officials from the Organization of American States (OAS) in November 2020, so that its mission would follow up on the process, which has reaffirmed that the election has unfolded clearly and without problems.

"What you need to do is have confidence, we should not rush, not even say improper words such as fraud, but rather respect the results calmly," he expressed.

Likewise, the top official commented that the Transition and Emergency Government he leads is working on a first national budget bill draft, which must be evaluated by the next administration.

The new administration —he said— will review and present the document to Congress no later than September 30, 2021, and it will be analyzed by the Legislative Branch until November 30.

The statesman also stressed that his administration will do everything possible and more in the short time that remains, adding that he will leave a roadmap or way forward for the new Government, which will take office on July 28.
