Peru's President delivers vaccines to Madre de Dios

The President of the Republic Francisco Sagasti on Tuesday arrived in rainforest Madre de Dios region to deliver 11,534 COVID-19 vaccines from Sinopharm laboratory along with 40 oxygen concentrators, which will enable a better care for patients.

Once in the area, the Head of State stressed that up to 5.437 million vaccine doses have been administered so far in Peru.

Within this framework, more than 3.5 million first doses and nearly 2 million second doses have been administered to date.

It means that there are almost 2 million Peruvians fully protected and more than double protected by a first dose.

"We are facing an unprecedented process in the history of vaccination and Peruvian medicine. We are vaccinating people faster and faster (...)," he emphasized.

The top official also commented that the immunization of adults aged above 60 will be completed in June, adding that the immunization of people with comorbidities will be ensured.
