The President of the Republic Martin Vizcarra on Tuesday called on citizens to stand united in order to continue fighting until defeating the novel coronavirus pandemic.

In the same way, the top official invoked independence from poverty and underdevelopment that condemn citizens' lives, as do petty disputes, unfounded recriminations and intolerance.

In this sense, the statesman called on Peruvians to overcome this new challenge together and reach the Independence Bicentennial in July 2021 as a nation that strengthens its identity and recognizes itself as diverse.

Mr. Vizcarra remarked that Peru is a country that builds the future based on its identity.

He also emphasized that what unites Peru as a nation are not skin colors, nor the places where citizens were born, nor the origin of surnames, but multiculturalism, as well as the ideals of justice and equality under which the nation was founded.
